TIME: 13:30 - 17:00
TITLE OF THE COURSE: BOTULINUM TOXIN APPLICATIONS IN MOTION DISORDERS (LIVE BROADCAST)
CREDIT: 2 CREDITS
1- COURSE IS RECOMMENDED FOR: RESIDENT, SPECIALIST NEUROLOGIST, ACADEMICIAN
2- COURSE OBJECTIVE:
Botulinum toxin (BoNT) injection as the first-line option in the treatment of focal dystonia that is common in adult neurology. The success rate of the treatment depends on the phenomenological description of focal dystonia, the accuracy of the planning of the muscles to be injected and the injection of BoNT at suitable doses.
In patients with blepharospasm and hemifacial spasm, guidelines for BoNT injection are not required. However, the basic principles should be followed in order to ensure effective treatment and minimum side effects. This basic information will be given by experienced practitioners on the cases. In cervical dystonia (SD), oromandibular dystonia (OMD) and extremity dystonia, different muscles are involved in dystonia in each case. Therefore, it is a rule to draw the injection map correctly and to target the target muscles correctly. EMG guidance is widely used to ensure that BoNT injection is applied to the intended target. In recent years, visual guidance and ultrasonography (USG) have also been used for muscle injections, especially in deeply-located or large-vessels, or injections to the muscles adjacent to the nerves. The objective of the course is to present BONT INJECTION TECHNIQUES ONLINE IN THE CLINICAL ENVIRONMENT ON REAL CASES UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF EMG AND WHEN REQUIRED USG.
3- THE SUBJECTS THAT THE COURSE ATTENDEES WILL BE INFORMED AFTER THE COURSE
The course will provide basic information for attendees who have not used BoNT injection yet. They will be able to start BoNT treatment in their own clinics after the course as they will follow real-time application on the cases. The experienced attendees who are already giving BoNT injections to their patients but want to increase treatment success will be able to update their own practices through the examples in practice.
4- EXPECTATIONS FROM THE ATTENDEES: ATTENDING AS A LISTENER, SHARING EXPERIENCES, ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN DISCUSSIONS
